Michigan’s Charmer just released their new song, Arrowhead, and it isone of the most infectious tracks of the year to date.  Arrowhead is the second single off the upcoming full-length, Downpour (out May 23) – their first album since early 2020.  Lead single, Rose Thorns, has been out nearly a year and a half, so the new single coupled with an album announcement is sure to excite the fanbase.

The two minute and forty second song flies by and demands to be played over and over again.  Lead vocalist David Daignault sounds fantastic on this song and brings to mind the vocals of Ben Jorgensen of Armor for Sleep.  Musically, Arrowhead evokes Alkaline Trio’s Warbrain.  If the Armor for Sleep and Alkaline Trio comparisonsintrigue you, please take the next few minutes to listen and see if you agree.

Arrowhead also shines from a lyrical standpoint.  “Sudden death seems distant lately/Sick and sunk, I’ve used up all my luck/What’s the point in trying when I miss it all so much?” is a line early on that expresses a nihilistic view that will relate to listeners.  The repeated section “Cursed me, I fell in love with morning blues/Everything is leading me right back to hating you” in the last minute of the song is an absolute earworm and is sure to make Arrowhead a fan favorite and hopefully, a staple in their live show moving forward.

If the remaining nine unreleased songs on Downpour are anywhere close to the level of Arrowhead, this is going to be a special album that will be talked about for months, if not years, to come.
